The THSA records and preserves the architectural, cultural
and
social history of American theatres. Founded in 1969 by the
late
writer and theatre historian Ben
M. Hall, author of the
first book on movie palaces, The Best
Remaining Seats, the
THSA has grown into a national organization with an international
membership of more than 1,000 individuals. Their annual
Conclave is a theater tour in a different city or area of the
country.
The group visits and documents historic theaters from small
neighborhood venues to magnificent movie palaces.
The producers
covered their activities in and around Kansas City
and interviewed several of their members to add to the documentary's
rich story of the many efforts to save our motion
picture theatre legacy.

on an earlier Conclave, and
